COURTNEY MAY JOIN LILITH GANG

The Lilith camp puts the move on Courtney.

Hole has not yet been confirmed to join Lilith Tour, but Courtney is already talking about it.

If teaming up with Marilyn Manson was a match made in hell for Hole, could a kinder, gentler offer to join the Lilith Fair be a match made in heaven? Virtually since it's inception, the "celebration of women in music" package tour has been criticized from some quarters for its failure to celebrate women who genuinely rock -- i.e., Courtney Love. But now in it's third-- and according to founder Sarah McLachlan, its final -- year, Lilith may finally silence its critics and go out with a rockin' bang.

"We have an offer out to Hole for some dates in August, but nothing's confirmed yet," said a source close to Lilith Fair. "The offer was made in the beginning, but we made another offer. We're just waiting for a phone call. Our fingers are crossed."

Hole handlers at Geffen Records and a separate source close to Love also said that nothing has been confirmed. Nevertheless, Love has already begun talking about it like it's a done deal.

"We're doing five dates for sure," Love said in the May 14 edition of Boston Globe. "I think it's wonderful and it should be a really fun, interesting crowd to mess with. I will make them take to us. I can make anyone take to us, but it is about acclimation, what energies you want to play with."

Earlier in May, Love told the Dallas Morning News that they were thinking of doing the tour and that she never dissed the operation. "That was a quote attributed to me that I never said," she told the Globe. "Why on Earth would I ever cast aspersions on the fact that women are making more money than men on a summer tour? Absolutely not in a million years."

Hole isn't the only major act that Lilith has interest in. The Lilith source said that an offer for August dates has also been made to Lauryn Hill, but they're still waiting to hear back.
